What do you do on a day-to-day basis at your job? I forecast and report the hourly compensation and expenses at our manufacturing sites as well as understand and maintain our product warranty accruals for our product worldwide.
How did you arrive at your current position? What was your professional or career path? I started working at InSinkErator as a general packer right out of high school. I was working during the summer to save up for college in the fall. However, I discovered I enjoyed the environment and was learning a lot. I took on new roles on the manufacturing floor ranging from Area Lead to Quality Assurance. I utilized our tuition reimbursement benefit and attended college while working full-time. Upon graduation, I became a Manufacturing Financial Analyst where I apply my experience in manufacturing with my education for continued success. I am learning business strategy and reasoning and was recently presented with the opportunity to diversify my financial knowledge around product warranties. I was able to learn a new item on the income statement and better understand a large accrual, as well as gain experience working with our international subsidiaries.
What is the best part about your job? The ability to connect what happens on the manufacturing floor with metrics I report to my management. I have this wealth of knowledge which I gained over the years and now is paying dividends allowing me to paint the picture of what is going on and bridge the two settings. And most importantly the people that work here.
